A new home design for a young family, replacing an existing small cottage on a sloping site with a densely wooded public reserve at its south-west boundary.
Amongst the design challenges was a brief calling for efficient interior planning with maximum natural light access and visual privacy.
Project Initiation and pre-design
Concept, preliminary and developed design incl. completed resource consent

Tender documents and tender evaluation
Building consent amendments and minor variations
Construction observation
The project was paused and then restarted with a number of design changes. The actual construction took place during the covid lock-downs which had impact on the built time, material cost and supply.
Despite the many challenges, the clients were very happy with the final result and have since been enjoying living in their new home.
